Nancy Lax Kozar

Being a Wisconsin native and spending a great deal of time near Lake Michigan, it only seemed natural for Nancy to be a watercolorist. She has always been influenced by the many moods of water scenes. Currently a resident of Lyons, Colorado, she remains attracted to scenes with rivers and lakes. Colorado's mountains and changing light patterns continually attract her attention.

Nancy became acquainted with the elegance and grace of fly fishing while living in Bozeman Montana in the early eighty's. "I thought it captivating to view people fly fishing because of the beautiful sense of movement, design and peace inherent in the sport. It provides a subject that cries out to be painted...people, water and inspiring landscape."

Nancy has been painting with watercolors over twenty years and still finds it a challenging and stimulating medium. She pursues painting full-time, often painting outdoors on location. Not wanting to be confined by subject matter, her paintings are a response to what mood or type of light she sees in a subject. "Painting is successful when I can evoke a mood or feeling for the viewer of my paintings."
